Homemade Starbucks Apple Crisp Shaken Espresso: A Delicious DIY Recipe

This apple crisp oatmilk shaken espresso is like a hug in a mug! It's creamy, cold, and sweet with a homemade apple syrup that tastes like fall. This iced coffee is inspired by Starbucks, but way better because you can make it at home. With cinnamon and apple flavors, it's the perfect drink to cozy up with on a chilly day!

Makes 1 serving

What you'll need:

The DIY Spiced Apple Crisp Syrup & Drizzle (makes ½ cup)
- ½ cup of brown sugar (light or dark, you choose)
- 2 cinnamon sticks, or 1 tsp of ground cinnamon (see notes)
- ⅓ cup of apple juice or apple juice concentrate (the frozen kind works too)
- A pinch of salt
- ½ tsp of vanilla extract

- 1 double shot of blonde espresso, see notes for other options
- 1-2 cups of ice cubes
- Full Fat Oat Milk to taste, about 6-8 oz

How to make it:

To Make the Syrup:
- In a small pot, whisk together the brown sugar, apple juice or juice concentrate, cinnamon sticks, and salt.
- Bring it to a simmer over medium low heat. Then lower the heat and cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring now and then. Don't let it boil. The syrup should get thicker.
- Take it off the heat and add the vanilla extract. Let it cool down completely. The syrup will get even thicker as it cools.
- Store it in a jar or container in the fridge for up to a week.

To Make the Shaken Espresso:
- In a jar with a lid, add 1 double shot of hot espresso and 1/2 tbsp - 1 tbsp (to taste) of the apple crisp syrup. You can always add more syrup later if you want.
- Add 4-5 ice cubes, close the lid, and shake it like you mean it for 20-30 seconds.
- Pour the espresso and syrup mix into your glass (but not the ice cubes).
- Add fresh ice cubes to the glass.
- Pour the oat milk you like into the glass. Taste and add more syrup if needed.
- Sprinkle some cinnamon on top.


Espresso Substitutions: If you don't have blonde espresso, you can also use strong brewed coffee, cold brew, or instant espresso.

Cinnamon Consideration: If you use ground cinnamon instead of cinnamon sticks, make sure to strain the syrup through a fine metal sieve to get rid of any bits. This will make your apple crisp oatmilk shaken espresso smooth and silky.
